Newsletter #176
What a fantastic weekend.
It started on Friday when I went to lunch to hear Bulldogs CEO Raelene Castle speak, and she was outstanding. Her dad Bruce played for the Kiwis and is a top man.
Then it was off to the New Zealand Rugby League headquarters to catch up with some of the 1977 Auckland rugby league team, who beat France, England and Australia in the space of a month. They were having a reunion over the weekend organised by my good friend Lyndsay Proctor, and well-supported by many people.
Then it was off up the road to the Vodafone Warriors game, where of course we beat the Bulldogs 21-14.
It was a great night in the Stacey Jones lounge before I was up early on Saturday heading into town for lunch with mates and Bulldogs captain James Graham, who is another top bloke.
The of course it was off the All Blacks test courtesy of Peter Thompson from Barfoot and Thompson real estate, and what a fantastic night – if a late one.
It’s fair to say Sunday morning I was feeling my age, but boy it had been a great couple of days.
Jan and I had Barry Ross, our Australian correspondent, and his two sons, staying with us, and that was a pleasure too.
And then to top it all off Team New Zealand win the America’s Cup. How good is that?
On Thursday Janice and I are flying to Sydney to watch the NYC team play on Saturday, and hopefully I'll catch up with our old mate Jason Death.
Go the mighty Vodafone Warriors. AND THE ALL BLACKS
