Newsletter #206
Crikey what a great way to start your week, at the launch of the Vodafone Warriors 2018 season last night at SkyCity.
The first half was just for the fans, with my old mate and genuine all round good fellah and league diehard Gordy Gibbons acting as MC.
It was wonderful to catch up with so many good old friends and normal everyday fans, one bloke flying all the way from Christchurch just to be there.
When that was over we moved into SkyCity for the formal official part of the evening, MCed by radio and TV host Nicky Styris, and my old pal Stephen McIvor of Sky TV.
The night was absolutely capped off by the fantastic news, delivered by Vodafone Warriors CEO Cameron George that Roger Tuivasa Scheck had re-signed for four years, and that will be a huge boost for fans and the club.
Makes all those media reports that he was moving to rugby look pretty sic doesn’t it?
I also want to go on record as saying that I love the Warriors new blue gear, I think it brings out the best in the Old Butcher. Plus blue is my favourite colour.
The season is inching closer and we will go into it unbeaten in pre-season, which probably doesn’t mean that much, but has to better than going into it off the back of a couple of losses. There is a genuine good feeling around the club. I even signed up yachting legend Brad Butterworth as a member over the weekend. You can become a BASIC MEMBER from as little as $30 details in the newsletter. This is a great way to show your support for the club this season which can’t come soon enough – go the Vodafone Warriors.
Have a fantastic weekend and to every one running round the bays on Sunday have a great run!
