Newsletter #216

Firstly I want to thank all the people who emailed me and agreed with my comments in the newsletter last week about how good Melbourne were. It was quite refreshing to be fair, but not quite as refreshing as seeing the Vodafone Warriors bounce back and hammer the West Tigers like they did. The downside was three players coming off injured, though the good news is Adam Blair and Issac Luke will be okay, though it looks like Shaun Johnson could be out for a couple of weeks. Being on crutches didn’t stop Shaun from getting engaged over the weekend, so congratulations to him and his lovely bride to be Kayla. This Saturday we take on the Roosters, who we beat 30-6 in round four. Over the weekend they had a close call against Manly, winning 22-20, taking them to five wins so far, while our Warriors have now won seven. I spent some time at the club yesterday and had the privilege of handing out the player of the day awards, and there is is a very good feeling around the place, and I’m not just talking the players, but the staff as well. Everybody is taking the new ownership on board and just getting on with the job. On the new ownership, I wish our new owners every success with the club, and I have to say it’s great to have Autex involved with the club, because Autex has done so much for league in New Zealand. Don’t forget that after the Roosters we are in Christchurch for the Manly game, so let’s hope the South Island gets behind the game and packs the stadium out. Have a fantastic week and go the mighty Vodafone Warriors this weekend. Sir Peter Charles Leitch KNZM QSM
