Yes it was a shocker on Saturday night from my beloved Vodafone Warriors.
I’m not going to try to sugar-coat it, because it was an unacceptable performance.
But please don’t compare it to the Melbourne Storm loss, because that night, as I said last week, Melbourne would have beaten anybody, and in the second half we came out and gave it crack.
Always remember, it's only a game and no one died.
Yesterday as I was waiting for the doctor, I clicked on the give-a-little page and went to the health section, and there were six pages of people with terminal cancer and that sort of thing - real problems to worry about, not just losing at footy.
That sort of thing puts some perspective around
None of which alters the fact that on Friday night we are in Sydney taking on the Parramatta Eels, who have only had two wins the season.
They tipped over Manly 44-10 in round seven - surprising absolutely everyone, and then in round 8 they beat the Tigers 24-22.
The next week they lost a close one 22-20 to the Sharks, then last week lost 20-12 to the Bulldogs, so their recent form has been way better than their win-loss record might suggest, meaning this will be no picnic.
Good news for the club though, they have just signed Peter O’Sullivan, a renowned talent scout who has recruited some big names in league like Roger Tuivasa-Sheck and Greg Inglis. He will be a real asset.
This weekend Janice and I are of to Masterton to support my mate Dexter at a charity fundraiser along with Sir Michael Jones, Sir Brian Lochore and Jenny May Coffin. It should be a great night and I’m looking forward to catching up with locals and spreading the gospel of the Vodafone Warriors, and yes I’ve organised an auction item - it's a day with the Butcher at Mt Smart along with a signed jersey, and I've even thrown in a signed Joseph Parker glove.
Have a great week and let’s remember to share the love out there.
